I chose to see Dr. Kelly for a second opinion on my injury. Not only did meet with me after a one day notice,  he spent an hour explaining in detail what needed to be done and how he would do it. I felt so comfortable that I agreed to surgery with him on the spot. Post-surgery has been exactly what he said it would be like. I am on week five post-op and my shoulder is feeling fantastic. Not only is he a five-star doctor, but his team is too. They are awesome people all the way around. Thank you Dr. Kelly. I’m looking forward to my rehabilitation starting next week.

I ruptured my quadricep tendon a year ago. It tore right off the knee cap and one week later, Dr. Kelly surgically repaired it. With plenty of physical therapy, and one year later, I am back to normal. I am running, playing tennis, paddle boarding etc. It’s wonderful! I am completely 100% satisfied.

I have been struggling with arthritis in my knee for over 7 years. The pain had steadily increased and was impacting my ability to enjoy many of the activities in my life. I was nervous about knee surgery and waited as long as I could to get it fixed. My experience with Dr. Kelly, his team and everyone at TCO has been outstanding. From the first visit, I could tell that this facility and the people on the team were top notch. Appointments, communication, scheduling, surgery and recovery were all handled with great attention to detail and professionalism. The surgery and recovery have gone great. I’m not yet at 3 months from surgery and I am back to enjoying golf and all the activities I love to do. Zero old knee pain! My strength and pain free flexibility have returned. Cliché, but I should have had this procedure done 3 or 4 years ago. My thanks to Dr. Kelly and his whole team! I strongly recommend them.

I seriously couldn’t have had a better experience at TCO and with Dr. Kelly. The only other place where I have experienced such nice and wonderful staff is Disney World! From the intake nurse, the surgical team, the nurses and therapy staff at the care suites, everyone was extremely nice and made me feel very comfortable the entire stay. I have been singing your praises to everyone that I talked to after the surgery. My mother, also a nurse, would always say to find a place that will treat you like your own family would, and TCO did just that. I’m so happy that I sought out a second opinion at TCO.

After a knee replacement and the second of my two shoulder replacement surgeries, I feel qualified to say that Dr. Kelly and his team (Lindsey Anderson, PA-C and Care Coordinator Kaici Gulbrandson) have made my life so much better than it would ever have been without their incredible work. I cannot envision how Dr. Kelly’s skill as a surgeon could be surpassed anywhere. It is nothing short of incredible. What a gift he is to the Twin Cities!

I hesitated for years before having my knee replaced, but finally placed my trust in Dr Kelly. I had excellent results and am very pleased with the recovery process. My only regret is having waited so long!

I was unsure about having my right shoulder replaced but with the pain I was in and recommendations from others, I decided to go ahead and have the surgery. Immediately following surgery, I didn’t have much pain. I know I would have to work at getting my strength and mobility back, which was note easy but well worth it. Dr. Kelly and his team were very professional and positive, always friendly and made everything clear. The physical therapist was very good and with all of the work, I now have good strength and mobility. Dr. Kelly did a great job on my shoulder!

The knee that underwent surgery does not give me any problems. I was only home from work for one month and was able to begin driving then even though it was my right knee. Dr. Kelly and team cared about me and my PT team was great.

At 51 years old, having to have total shoulder replacement surgery is a bit shocking and humbling. The surgery, care and professionalism I received however, has been very positive and successful. I feel fortunate and look forward to the prospective of using my shoulder again for normal activities like reaching above shoulder height, lifting with normal strength and swimming again. For so long, I tolerated the pain and worked around my immobility. I’m young and should not be under such restrictions so it is actually exciting that I won’t have to suffer and live like that anymore. I’m very happy I had this surgery done with Dr. Kelly!

I had knee pain which limited my quality of life so I chose to have knee replacement surgery. Even though it has only been 5 weeks, I have good range of motion and I am going up and down stairs. My surgical and physical therapy experience has been excellent. Dr. Kelly and Lindsay were wonderful as well as the entire staff. I am sure this is going to greatly improve my quality of life.

Dr. Kelly did exceptional work for my total shoulder replacement and delivered on everything he said he would prior to surgery.

My right shoulder pain was extreme before the surgery and now I have no pain after surgery. Pain during my recovery time was manageable and physical therapy was painless and easy. Dr. Kelly, the nurses and physical therapists were helpful, personable and genuinely concerned about my health, pain and recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Kelly to anyone having shoulder pain.

Shoulder surgery with Dr. Kelly eliminated the constant pain that I experienced in the shoulder area. I would definitely have this surgery again, if required. Dr. Kelly and his medical team were outstanding.

After basically loosing my ability to throw a ball over hand for over 10 years, I can now do these things again. My total shoulder replacement with Dr. Kelly went well, as did rehab. I had less pain than expected and have recommended others to get this surgery as well.

I had been struggling with left shoulder pain for several years to the point where I quit playing golf. With the help a Dr. Kelly, a great surgeon, I think I can get back to normal. Dr. Kelly, his staff and TCO have been super.

I am 5 weeks out from surgery and still recovering but TCO prepared me exceptionally well for surgery. My recovery has been intense but I was aware it would be work and I intend to continue to ensure my success. All staff at TCO, including Dr. Kelly, have been professional, knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend TCO. At 5 weeks out from surgery, I see improvements each day. I know 3 and 6 months out and a year from now, I will be satisfied. Be prepared to commit to your surgery and do the post-surgery work required to achieve success.

The total shoulder replacement process was initially communicated as taking the better part of a year. I feel thinks are going much better than I thought they would. The performance of all TCO staff, including Dr. Kelly, has been outstanding.

The TCO team was excellent in addressing all of my concerns and following up on continued care. Dr. Kelly did surgery on my right shoulder and it was truly a life changer for me. I’m one year out and feel like I’m back on track to full recovery.

I broke my ankle while out walking and required surgery to repair it. I now have a plate and a bunch of screws in my ankle, but I really don’t notice them to be honest. Though thinking about the surgery was scary, the folks at Twin Cities Orthopedics were spectacular at guiding me through the process with confidence. Dr. Edward Kelly was my surgeon and he not only did excellent work in my operation, but also has been very helpful as I recover by being very encouraging and straightforward abut what to expect along the way. All-in-all, though breaking my ankle was a tough pill to swallow, the staff at TCO has made the entire experience one that was handled with class and great care. My advice to any “ankle-breakers” out there is simply this: you can fully trust the medical processionals at TCO. Five years ago they successfully fixed a neck issue I had via surgery and now more recently have fixed my ankle. In both cases, they were top-notch. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I was somewhat hesitant to have knee replacement surgery, but over time despite other treatment options and PT, it seemed like the logical option. Of course, any surgery is unpleasant, but overall I have been VERY satisfied with the results and the care I received from Dr. Kelly and all of the medical professionals/trainers I dealt with along the way. The post-op PT is unwelcome at first, but within days my pain was reminiscing and my range of motion increasing. Over the following weeks my mobility increased and I had the other knee replaced. The second knee actually felt less painful and recovery was a bit smoother. It has now been two years. I followed all the instructions, completed all of the PT and am EXTREMELY happy with the results. My mobility has increased substantially and my quality of life is markedly improved. Before having the knee replacements, I would dread stairs. Even walking up and down and incline would be painful. Simple things such as light yard work or housework were quite burdensome. Not I have no pain, considerably more energy and care on a much more normal life.

Dr. Kelly and his PA, Lindsey Anderson, make a wonderful team. They answered all my questions and would spend as much time as needed to do so. I never felt pushed into doing the surgery, but when the time was right, they were with me. I would work with them again anytime. They are upfront and honest and provide genuine care for their patients.

I was apprehensive about having a shoulder surgery but I had lost so much mobility in it. I now have almost complete mobility back and an mow working to increase my strength. It feels so much better than before surgery. I am very thankful to Dr. Kelly and Lindsey Anderson, PA, for all their support and encouragement!

Dr. Kelly and his team provided terrific care for my shoulder injury and subsequent surgery. I appreciated the professional care, both at TCO’s Edina-Crosstown clinic and Eagan Orthopedic Surgery Center. Dr. Kelly’s assistant, Kaici, is a gift to the team as she responded promptly to my physical therapist regarding treatment plans and provided a personal touch of encouragement in the healing process. I would highly recommend Dr. Kelly.

My rotator cuff repair with Dr. Kelly went well and I think the key to my shoulder recovery has been the dedication that I have put forth in my PT exercises given to me by my medical team. They have been very thorough on their discussions with me regarding what to expect and how to progress.

I am a mid-60s man and tore most of my right rotator cuff muscles rescuing my dog. That was two years ago. The surgery was complex but a few months after surgery with Dr. Kelly, I’d regained full range of motion and core strength.

In 2007, my right shoulder was bone on bone. The smallest movements were very painful and I was limited. My family physician recommended that I see Dr. Edward Kelly at TCO. Surgery and replacement was recommended. What a wonderful relief! Dr. Kelly performed an amazing surgery. I have no pain and have full use of my right arm to this day in 2021. You know who I will recommend to anyone needing surgery – Dr. Kelly! I am 92 years young.

A quick note to express my gratitude on the tremendous job Dr. Kelly did on my rotator cuff surgeries. Two weeks ago I was on a beach, throwing a football with my son, and it was the first time in 25 years that activity was pain-free. I have resumed all of my desired physical activities and cannot thank Dr. Kelly enough.

After a right shoulder reverse replacement 11 months ago, I have no pain, only occasional stiffness if I overdue it. I would recommend the procedure to anyone who wants relief from arthritis pain. Dr. Edward Kelly performed the operation and he couldn’t have been more pleasant, reassuring and thorough. His assistant, Lindsey, was helpful and impressive too. When I was able to begin physical therapy, Mike Dixey was very good and encouraging. I would recommend that anyone who has the procedure be sure to be faithful in doing physical therapy if you want a really good outcome. I do no regret having the this surgery and have recommended Twin Cities Orthopedics to friends!

Rotator cuff repair surgery with Dr. Kelly was completely successful. I had no pain after the first day and following my rehab instructions successfully restored my range of motion and strength.

Both knee replacement surgeries went very well with Dr. Kelly! I am still exercising and that has helped keep the knee from being stiff. Dr. Kelly and his staff have been very involved and answering any questions that might arise!

While the inability to use my shoulders occurred slowly over time, the decision to have shoulder replacement in both my left and right side was game changing. The mental acceptance of my prognosis was the most difficult. Post-surgical pain was very manageable and 6 weeks without use was frustrating but manageable as well. In addition to my experience with expert surgeon Dr. Kelly, the therapist was a key to full recovery too, Lisa R. is the best. Dr. Kelly’s entire team made my year transformative, giving me back the ability to golf, scuba dive and deep sea fish by the end of the year.

Dr. Kelly and his entire team was outstanding. They answered every question and stayed in contact during the entire shoulder replacement process.

My knee surgery with Dr. Kelly corrected a very serious quad tenon injury which allows me to continue with my activities somewhat similarly to before. I do have some restrictions but I feel fortunate to be able to function as I am.

Following surgery with Dr. Kelly, I am now back at work unloading and loading grocery carts. I’m still strengthening my knees but I’m able to do stairs slowly and I can ride a bike as part of my exercise. I do get stiff but if I sit for a bit, but both knees are ready to go again. I’m getting back to moving to my faster pace walk and style of life every day.

I couldn’t walk after breaking my hip; but now, after surgery with Dr. Kelly, I am back to bicycling 300 miles a week when the weather allows.

November 23, 2020

Clifford L.

Prior to the surgery with Dr. Kelly, my ability to walk comfortably was hit or miss. And even on the best days, the first several steps after sitting were slow, stiff & difficult. Following a bi-lateral total knee replacement, I’m back to fitness walking with no distance limits or pain. I don’t have to worry about a knee giving out while descending stairs, and I’m able to do essentially all the things I’ve enjoyed throughout my life.

I cannot fully express my gratitude to Dr. Kelly and his staff for their care of my shoulder injury. I sustained a proximal humerus fracture in a ski accident about one year ago. Dr. Kelly’s diligent approach to my surgery and recovery ensured a return to my pre-accident range. The staff, especially Kaici, treated me with the utmost care and concern at each and every appointment. The communication at every step was clear and concise. I would strongly recommend Dr. Kelly as a surgeon.

My total shoulder replacement surgery by Dr. Kelly gave me back my life and had allowed me to do everything I used to do. I am amazed with the success! Dr. Kelly and his team exceeded all expectations on replacing both of my shoulders and I now have my active life back. Best medical experience I’ve had!

My rotator cuff repair surgery with Dr. Kelly went better than I could have imagined. I couldn’t even move my shoulder prior to surgery.

July 21, 2020

During my first appointment with Dr. Kelly, I asked him to fix me or amputate my arm. The pain was negatively impacting my quality of life and my mood. Since the surgery, I have returned to doing what I love to do and have minimal to no pain on most days. I am getting ready to start back up with my personal trainer and looking forward to once again being the ‘old lady who can’!

Dr. Kelly and his team are exceptionally talented caregivers. They are highly skilled, compassionate, fun, straight forward and east to talk with. Each one of them made me fell their favorite patient and each one was definitely there for me whenever I needed them. I can’t say enough good things about them, my experiences with them and my wonderful outcome!

Following rotator cuff repair by Dr. Kelly, I have been able to return to the golf course without pain. I have started to work out again at the gym. Best of all – I can sleep longer without waking up from pain.

I’ve had numerous issues for several years related to osteoarthritis in both knees. TCO did a good job responding to flare-ups and kept me going for as long as my knees would allow. But as my 60th birthday approached, bringing with it my retirement, I wanted to take more definitive action to put the flare-ups behind me and ensure I was fully able to enjoy the very active retirement plans ahead of me.

With the decision to go for a bilateral total knee replacement, the EXCEL program made great sense. The program provided a ton of information, clearly set my expectations and prepared me for the surgery and recovery. It took me from planning through surgery, overnight recovery, physical therapy and all follow-up appointments. It was a true team approach and absolutely comprehensive.

My team, led by Dr. Kelly, was fantastic. His PA, the nurses, PTs, anesthesiologists, office professionals, and even the van driver, were all very attentive and great at what they do. It’s now been nearly 10 months since my first surgery and nearly 8 months since the second TKR. I walk several miles daily, I’m doing all the things I used to do before my knees turned against me, and I‘m enjoying the retirement activity I‘d been looking forward to. The rehab wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had, but it was completely manageable and I have no regrets. If I had to do it again, I’d go right back to Dr. Kelly and the EXCEL program.

Although I am still in the early stages of total recovery (10 weeks), I’m amazed at how well the surgery by Dr. Kelly and recovery have gone. Surgery pain was quick to subside (within days) and the shoulder pain (bone on bone + bone spurs) was totally gone immediately. Very thankful and pleased with the elimination of the day to day pain. By following PT plans, I’ve been able to notice constant improvement of restoring mobility and strength. Both are already much better than before the surgery and getting better every day. Can’t wait to get the other one fixed too. THANKS!

The surgery with Dr. Kelly made a tremendous difference in my life. Because of the surgery I am now able to use my left arm comfortably. The surgery has made my life better, easier and without pain. Well worth it.

I was knocked out of doing my normal activities, including golfing and skiing. Thanks to Dr. Kelly and his team, the surgery put me back into being able to do everything again.

My primary care provider suggested Dr. Kelly as she had worked with him for years, and said he was the best with shoulder repair. I met him and some of his team in 2017. I decided to follow the physical therapy route, and waited for another year. An entire year after our first meeting, my torn rotator cuff started to interrupt my sleep and I was having more bad days then good. I went back and met with him. He asked me, “are you ready to do this surgery?” I asked him, “are you?” He then told me he was ready last year. I still laugh about that. I had my surgery on 12/27/18. The pain management plan was very clearly laid out for my husband and myself to follow when we got home. I am so grateful for that thought out plan, a sheet of paper with a graph to follow. I think it made a challenging situation much more manageable. The recovery went better than I thought, and I was back to light duty work in three weeks. I respect Dr. Kelly and his team of compassionate care givers. Thanks for a new chance at life.

I retired earlier this year and was looking forward to catching up on many activities and experiences that I didn’t have time for in the past. But frequent issues with my knees posed a significant problem. I had total knee replacement done by Dr. Kelly on both knees (6 weeks apart) and after recovery I’m excited to say that my knee pain is gone and I have total confidence in my knees once again. I spent a week on vacation in December (10 months after my first knee replacement) and walked nearly 70 pain-free miles in 7 days. I’ve returned to my car building hobby, and am doing all the things around my home that had become difficult. I am still seeing improvement in both knees and am excited about that. I am convinced that all the dreams I had for my retirement are once again within reach.

After an accident in Mexico, I was treated for arthritis for 6 months with no relief, a 50+ year old woman protocol. I learned then to be a more assertive partner in my healthcare. Meniscus tears on both sides of my left knee were discovered and successfully cut away, I was told I would probably get arthritis in that knee and, sure enough, 9 years later it began. I had trouble doing everyday activities and also my favorite activity – paddle boarding! A total knee replacement was recommended at TCO and I readily went for it! Dr. Kelly and Lindsay were my heroes! It took over a year of hard work and great help from superior physical therapists but I am able to hike 10 miles, always take the stairs and enjoy life in retirement!

At 31 years of age, I tore my biceps at the beginning of my 13th season playing rugby. I had surprisingly never suffered a major injury before. I’ll never quit playing sports, and I knew I needed to find an experienced surgeon to sew me back together. Dr. Kelly was able to operate within 72 hours of my injury. I literally cannot recommend him enough. He and PA-C Lindsey Anderson are simply the best. They were professional, efficient and caring.

I followed his treatment plan and was back to lifting weights within a few months. Now, less than a year post-op, I am returning to national-level sport competition. My arm is stronger than ever and his experience and skill are the reason.

If you suffer any kind of sporting injury to your upper extremities, Dr. Edward Kelly is the surgeon to see. Period.

I had both knees replaced by Dr. Kelly at TCO as part of the EXCEL Program and had a very positive experience. Everyone I had dealings with through the process was friendly, knowledgeable and competent.

Dr. Kelly did an amazing job of repairing torn biceps and rotator cuff tendons. His diagnosis was quick and accurate, and all went smoothly through pre-op, surgery, recovery, and PT. Dr. Kelly’s team of Kaici, Lindsey, and Kayla provided excellent support and advice throughout. The Fairview Ridges surgery experience was the best hospital experience I have had in 65 years — thank you to all the caring nurses who even sent me a card! Finally, Annie at TCO Physical Therapy worked with me pre- and post-surgery to get me healed and stronger than I have been in years. I would recommend Dr. Kelly and TCO to anyone needing orthopedic work. I hope I never need it again, but it’s comforting to know TCO, Dr. Kelly, and his entire team are there if I do. Thanks for making life better!

Dr. Edward Kelly,

My name is Larry and I am 79 years of age. After 10 years of problems with my left elbow, including surgery, shots, and therapy, I was referred to Dr. Kelly at Twin Cities Orthopedics.  Dr. Kelly informed me that I was a good candidate for a total elbow replacement.  I was quite nervous about making the decision to have a total elbow replacement because I had no knowledge of anyone who had ever had this done.  My surgery date was set for June 13, 2017 at Fairview Hospital in Burnsville. All went well with the surgery and I was back at home in Grand Rapids the next evening.

I was pleased with the low level of pain I experienced following surgery and within a few weeks I could use my arm and bend my elbow with minimal pain.  Now after 3 months, I am doing great and can function without pain for the first time in 10 years.

Thank you to Dr. Kelly and his surgical team at Fairview Hospital.

I suffered with pain in my right shoulder for several years due to arthritis and eventually was in constant pain. It was disrupting my sleep and kept me from activities I used to enjoy. Dr. Kelly provided me with the treatment options, including full shoulder replacement surgery. At age 58, I wasn’t looking forward to surgery and weeks of recovery, but in August 2014 I took the plunge. I couldn’t be happier with every aspect of my choice to have Dr. Kelly and his team perform my surgery. I have known Dr. Kelly for several years and have found him to be an extremely talented surgeon who takes the time to answer my questions and help me decide what will be best for me. Because Dr. Kelly arranged my surgery through the EXCEL program, the entire process was extremely well-planned and coordinated. My surgery experience only took a few hours at the Crosstown Surgery Center in Edina, with a one-night hotel-like stay in a wonderful facility with a private room and fantastic nursing care. I was relaxed and slept very well that night (as compared to no sleep during previous stays in a hospital). The surgery went as smoothly as Dr. Kelly and Kaici had explained and my recovery went much faster and easier than I had ever anticipated. Within 6 weeks of surgery, I was using my shoulder for most of my normal day-to-day activities, and the shoulder continued to gain strength and rotation from the physical therapy and exercises. I have re-gained full use of my shoulder and don’t even think about it anymore. I was washing windows this spring and smiled because I realized I was using my right arm/shoulder – something I would not have done a year ago. I’m not sure why I waited so long to get it done! Everyone from the reception staff, the surgical team and recovery nurses were outstanding – their personal touch and genuine caring made me feel like a VIP! The EXCEL program was a blessing because it allowed me to get through joint replacement with minimal disruption in my life. For anyone considering any kind of orthopedic surgery, I would encourage you to consider Twin Cities Orthopedics. Dr. Kelly and TCO will always be my first and only choice for orthopedic care!

My knee replacement with Dr. Kelly and the EXCEL program is one of the best medical experiences I’ve ever had. From the check- in at the surgery center to the discharge at York Gardens, everything was just wonderful. The staff is excellent. Every single doctor, nurse, therapist, and aide was a highly skilled professional who delivered such great care. I never sat around waiting for help – there was always someone right there when I needed them. There was also really good communication between all the team members so they were always up to speed on what was happening with me. There were so many small details that added up to big differences. Like no hospital gowns (!) I was given comfortable athletic wear instead. And I had the same two nurses the whole time at the rehab facility – one of them even came along in the van to pick me up from the surgery center. I felt so well cared for every step of the way. I would recommend this program to anybody who is considering surgery. It was truly outstanding.

I can’t say enough good words to express my appreciation for Dr. Kelly and his staff.

When researching doctors for my shoulder replacement surgery, I wanted to meet with Dr. Kelly because of what I read about his expertise in this area. I met a friendly, down-to-earth man with a sense of humor. I felt like a person he cared about instead of a number as I had found with other doctors I had seen.

After he explained the procedure to me I left confident I had found the right doctor.

I was so right! The surgery went well, as have all the follow-up appointments. Thanks also go to the team of people working with Dr. Kelly.

I guess you can say I’ve become one of Dr. Kelly’s biggest fans!

I have been going to the BWCA (Boundary Waters Canoe Area) since 1964 when my father took me on my first trip to this magical, wonderful place. Since then I have made 25-30 trips back to the BWCA, recently with my sons and nephews. To say that it has a special place in my heart is a gross understatement. 2 years ago I came off the last portage in near tears, suffering from arthritic pain. Since then, Dr. Owen O’NeillDr. Ed Kelly and their expert staffs have replaced 2 shoulders, 2 hips and 1 knee. The attached photo was taken earlier this year and shows me and my team (including my youngest son and nephew) over-looking “our unnamed lake” in the BWCA. We traveled over 10 miles to get there, crossing 3 lakes, 4 portages and 3 rivers. My sincere thanks to Dr. Kelly, Dr. O’Neill and their expert staffs for giving me this important piece of my life back! I strongly recommend them both and encourage you to schedule a visit if you are in pain like I was!

On a scale of 1 to 10, Dr. Kelly deserves an 11. Two years ago I had total shoulder replacement. This past May I had total knee replacement. Today I am playing tennis with my grandchildren with an arm and a knee that move as normal as anyone could expect for someone 70 years old. Having been active all my life, Dr. Kelly literally gave me my life back as I had known it. I am very grateful for his skill, and most especially for his insistence that I trust him in the rehab period. I did and the rest is very good history.

I’ve known Dr. Edward Kelly for almost 10 years, in that time he has replaced both shoulders and both knees. Dr. Kelly is not only a skilled surgeon, he is a humanist. He cares about the whole patient and is skilled at listening to his patient’s needs on both physical and emotional level. He makes you feel as if you are his only patient and considering the size of his practice is a feat of its own. He has given me back my active life — my osteoarthritis limited my physical activity and in general everyday activities. The surgeries were very successful — I have full range of motion on both shoulders and both knees. I thank Ed, Kaici and his whole team for great care and caring.

Dr. Kelly is knowledgeable, patient and thorough. He has put my arm back together and offered opinion on knee surgery. I always leave his exam room knowing I got the best advice.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Kelly and his staff today. I was specifically looking for a surgeon with shoulder fellowship training of which there are very few in the Twin Cities area. I was immediately pleased to meet his P.A., Lindsey. She was friendly, casual yet very professional and seemed interested in me and my history and the symptoms that brought me to their facility. I then got to meet Dr. Kelly and his scribe and secretary, Kaici. Dr. Kelly was very friendly and interested in allowing me to tell my history and what I was hoping to achieve in this visit. I was impressed with his casual yet concerned attitude. He described everything he planned to do for me that day, introduced me to Kaici and the orthopedic fellow in training he had with him. I never felt rushed at any time. I felt like I was acknowledged as an individual and treated with respect and understanding at all times. Although I have had shoulder injections by other doctors before, I never had an ultrasound to look at the shoulder and the major tendons, bursa, muscles and skeletal structure before. He explained very clearly what damage he found and explained why I had the symptoms I had. He used that ultrasound to guide his needle in placing the local anesthetic and after an appropriate amount of time he then placed the steroid injection with no pain only a sense of pressure. I have never been more comfortable with this type of injection as I was today. He made sure I was comfortable at all times which I appreciated very much. I felt I received high quality care from Dr. Kelly and that it was delivered in a personal, profession yet very friendly manner. I had some questions regarding pre-op teaching and Kaici took time from her schedule to help me by getting the information to me. She also was very friendly and it was apparent to me as a retired RN with 35 years experience, that Kaici and Lindsey really enjoyed working with Dr. Kelly. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a shoulder or elbow specialist that they come to see Dr. Kelly. They will not be disappointed.

I had my 3 month checkup with Dr. Kelly for my left shoulder replacement today, and I must say that my journey since meeting Dr. Kelly for my shoulder has been nothing short of amazing. Less than 3 months after replacement, I have zero pain, and have recovered most of my range of motion. I must also mention his staff. They are very friendly and always make you feel comfortable. A huge thank you to all of you.

Dr. Kelly

I want thank you, and let you know how much I appreciate all that you have done for me. I know it’s going to take me a while to get back to normal, but before you know it, I’ll be on that motorcycle in no time. You and your staff have been terrific.

Kaici has been wonderful. She was always quick to respond to every message and request that my wife, Debbie and I have made. Debbie needed a form filed out by the doctor for FMLA leave at work. Kaici e-mailed the completed form within a couple of hours, in spite of her busy schedule. Thank you, Kaici.

Justina was a huge help in getting all our questions answered about physical therapy and my care at York Gardens. It was nice of her to visit me during my stay and introduce herself. She even stuck around on my last day, until Debbie got there so she could meet her also. Debbie said this busy woman needs an assistant to help her with all her messages. Thank you, Justina.

The nurses at York Gardens, Andrea, Margaret, Stacy, Michelle and Laura (PT) were all wonderful. Andrea reminded me so much of my daughter-in-law who is a registered nurse in California. They all took such good care of me. They are also very good listeners. Thanks to all of you.

My experience with TCO was a very positive experience. I first went there in January of 2014 when I fell at work and tore my rotator cuff. Dr. Kelly was my physician. I had surgery in February to repair the tear. I shared with Dr. Kelly that I had planned to get my knee replacement in the spring and was disappointed that it wouldn’t happen. His reply was, “oh we can do that.” He told me he also did knees and depending on my recovery from shoulder surgery, it could probably be done in May.

Well, I had a great recovery and while still getting physical therapy, discussed having the knee replacement done.

The staff was very excited to tell me that I would qualify to go through the EXCEL program. Not having to be in the hospital was very appealing and having a class about the procedure was very helpful. York Gardens, where you go for recovery, was a beautiful and very comfortable facility!

The surgery went well, and it was very comforting to have Dr. Kelly and Lindsay in the operating room. Going to the room at York Gardens was so nice and the staff there was very helpful and pleasant.

The physical therapist was patient but yet encouraged me to do what I needed to do. The food was very tasty. I felt I was in an apartment and not in a hospital room.

I would, and have, recommended the EXCEL program to people who need a knee replacement. I appreciate all the help I got from all of the staff. From the appointment desk to the physical therapists, and everything in between, I am very happy with the experience and outcome!

Dr. Edward Kelly, M.D. & his team at Twin Cities Orthopedics – Burnsville have earned my highest respect and gratitude. Sunday, August 29th started out as an ordinary day but it wasn’t. Late afternoon I rolled down an embankment. My elbow took the brunt of the fall. It was shattered and dislocated plus two ligaments were hanging by threads. Now what? After reviewing several orthopedic websites and reading testimonials, we decided to make an appointment to see Dr. Edward Kelly. I couldn’t be more pleased with the expertise, compassion and results I experienced from Dr. Kelly and his team. They demonstrated the technical knowledge as well as the ability to listen and communicate (excellent bedside manner!). Because of today’s technology, Dr. Kelly was able to confer with experts around the world to determine the best way to proceed. Mark Froemke, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Michele Jacobson, OTR/L, CHT Hand Therapist, patiently worked with me. I have regained the function and use of my arm… and am very grateful!

On December 23, 2015, Dr. Kelly did a Tenex procedure on my left elbow. I had immediate relief from pain that day. I had been having constant pain for the past two years in the left elbow and forearm. I had a couple of cortisone injections that would provide relief for a couple of months, but the pain always returned. Today I can say I am 100% pain free. I had gone from pain all the time to being pain free now. The procedure for me was easy, painless and recovery went very well. Dr. Kelly and Lindsay explained the procedure thoroughly and answered all of my questions prior to the procedure. The Crosstown Surgery Center was a wonderful place to have the procedure. Everyone was kind, caring and helpful.

First, a bit of back story: I had been living with moderate to occasionally severe right shoulder pain for several years. I sought treatment at another major orthopedic group on two different occasions. In both cases, after an examination and couple x-rays, I was referred to physical therapy, with no definitive explanation for my pain. After the requisite therapy, I had little to no improvement. I was discouraged to say the least. In the latter half of 2015, the pain reached a level where I could no longer sleep on my right side, waking up in pain, and having to sleep only on my left side. My family doctor recommended I see a specialist at TCO. Upon making the initial call to TCO, I explained my situation, and a very friendly and helpful person recommended Dr. Kelly. I asked if I could go ahead and set up an appointment, expecting a wait of a few weeks to be seen. They actually scheduled me for an initial consult the very next day. It was the first of several positive surprises with TCO. After being shown to an exam room, I was greeted by Dr. Kelly and two members of his care team. I noted a few things right away – they showed empathy and concern, and took the time to actually listen to my story and my condition. My shoulder was thoroughly examined, and I was then sent for x-rays. After coming back to the exam room, Dr. Kelly reviewed the results of my x-rays, and then used a portable ultrasound to further examine my shoulder. He then showed me the cause of my pain – a significant calcium deposit on one of my rotator tendons. Dr. Kelly recommended the Tenex procedure, which would utilize a small incision (about 1/2 inch) on the shoulder to allow access to the calcium deposit where the device would use ultrasonic pulses to break up the calcium and vacuum the debris. For the first time in years, I was finally optimistic that I had a physician that cared enough to find the right solution to a chronic problem. The procedure was scheduled for about 10 days later. Arriving at the surgical suite, I was quickly shown to a pre-op room, where I only needed to remove my shirt, and wait comfortably with warm blankets. I was soon taken into the surgical suite, where Dr. Kelly was waiting with his team. I was given a local anesthetic to numb my shoulder, and then laid down on my left side. Dr. Kelly did an awesome job of keeping me informed of each step of the process, which relaxed me, especially since I was fully awake for the procedure. The entire Tenex procedure took about 20 minutes to complete, and was nearly painless. After a final shot of cortisone to reduce the inflammation and speed the healing process, I was bandaged up (no stitches!), and sent to the recovery room. After a brief time, I was discharged and was even able to drive myself home. I experienced some minor discomfort for a few weeks while the shoulder healed, but the previous pain I had was gone. It has been about 4 months since the procedure, and I am 100% pain free, and have unrestricted motion of my right shoulder for the first time in years. I truly appreciate the care I received from Dr. Kelly and his team – it was a first-class experience. If you’re experiencing similar pain, don’t wait like I did – the fix was so simple and the results so positive that I wish I had done it long before. I highly recommend Dr. Kelly and TCO. It was a life changing experience for me.

After months, if not a year or two of pain, including unsuccessful physical therapy and cortisone, I was at my wits end with the pain and weakness in my left elbow. Although I had tennis elbow, I play golf, not tennis. My condition made everyday things like grasping and lifting very painful. I found Dr. Kelly and couldn’t wait for the Tenex procedure. I am now one year post Tenex procedure and have to say I am fully healed and had the best golfing season ever this summer. No pain, no side effects. Procedure itself was quick and painless. I was fully awake and drove myself home. Insurance covered procedure as well per our coverage. Felt great in a day or two, and took it easy for a couple of weeks. My only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner.

In February of 2017, I fell and fractured 2 out of 3 bones in my right elbow. I went to TCO Urgent Care at the recommendation of my daughter-in-law. I cannot say enough good things about TCO. Everyone I came in contact with was kind, gentle, compassionate- all the attributes I needed at that time. I ended up seeing Dr. Kelly for my surgery, at the referral of Dr. Lewis (Dr. Lewis’s specialty is hips). I mention this because it is a sign of a great surgeon to refer a patient to another surgeon that can better meet the patient needs. So, I met Dr. Kelly. He explained everything, including the process and what I should expect. I ended up with a plate and screw placed to repair the fractures. He listened to the fears I had and was reassuring. Throughout my visits with Dr. Kelly, he always took the time to listen to my concerns  and let me know that I was on the right track. I asked questions, he answered them. I never felt like any question I had was a dumb one. He never acted as if he was in a hurry to move on, it was like I was his only concern at that time. Dr. Kelly is a kind, gentle, caring physician-he exceeded my expectations. I have full motion of my right arm, it’s straight, I can do everything I did before the fracture. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Kelly, and the staff at TCO. All I can say is- ‘you need an elbow repair –go to Dr. Edward Kelly’. You are the best-and I thank you.

After years of progressive loss of using my right shoulder, I met with Dr. Kelly. From the first appointment, it was like talking to an old friend. My experience from start to finish has been great and the shoulder works better than it has in years…feels like new. Thanks Dr. Kelly.

I met Dr. Kelly after an accident where I broke and crushed bones in my right elbow. He took on the challenge of putting my elbow back together with plates and screws.  Three months later I had an outpatient surgery to remove some unnecessary hardware and cartilage. Dr. Kelly is truly a miracle worker, he repaired the damage so well that two years later I have 95% mobility and use of my elbow. Without his skill and patience, I could have been left with a useless arm. He and his staff showed genuine concern through surgeries and healing, and always took the time to explain each process. I am so blessed that Dr. Kelly was called to do my emergency surgery. I will be forever grateful.

This summer, after years of arthritic pain and cortisone shots, I finally summoned up the courage to have my shoulders replaced. I can’t begin to thank Dr. Kelly enough. I knew within a day of the surgery that things were going to eventually get better. It was amazing! Within just two weeks, I wanted to get the other shoulder done. Dr. Kelly agreed to do the other one 7 weeks later. I teasingly say it’s like a miracle, but in a way, it truly is. For me it’s been life changing. I’m down to just 2 Advil a day – which I can’t believe. The weird cracking sounds I could hear in my body are GONE! I’m able to clean my house, get dressed, and do all sorts of things that were so painful before. The best thing of all – I can sleep comfortably again! What a difference. I would recommend Dr. Kelly to anyone. He and his PA, Lindsey Anderson, are excellent – not just for the surgery itself, but for all the follow up. I have really benefited from the Twin Cities Orthopedics EXCEL program.

After almost completely giving up, I found Dr. Kelly online. I will never forget the day I was in his office for my appointment. The first thing Dr. Kelly said was, “There is always hope!” He listened to me with compassion, and addressed my concerns.   He then brought in the ultrasound and took a look for himself.  He discussed the fairly new Tenex procedure  and stated he felt I would be a good candidate for this.  I had complete faith in him, and agreed I would give the surgery a try. The procedure was fairly new. The folks from Tenex came up to Minnesota and were present in the surgery room when he did my procedure. No medication was needed other than a local shot to numb my elbow.  I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. After a short 10 minute stay in recovery, I was able to leave and even drive myself home. I had my procedure on Friday, and the following Monday I was back to work.  My pain was gone, and continues to be.  I am now three years post-surgery.  I still think about Dr. Kelly and his team. They truly saved my life. The pain had gotten the best of me.  Dr. Kelly and his team were professional, experienced, and definitely patient advocates.  Dr. Kelly also delivered  100% quality care at an affordable price.  I would highly recommend him and will visit him again when it’s time to have the procedure on my right elbow. Thanks Dr. Kelly and team.

Although breaking my elbow and needing elbow surgery is not an experience I would ever want to repeat, I consider myself very fortunate to have had Dr. Edward Kelly of Twin Cities Orthopedics as my elbow surgeon.

As his patient I would describe him as a superb professional in so far as he was painstakingly thorough and detailed at every stage of my healing and recovery. As a result of his excellence as a surgeon, I now have complete healing, mobility, and range of motion in my arm. I believe there can be no higher compliment to a surgeon than a patient completely healed and restored. I would give Dr. Edward Kelly the highest possible rating as a surgeon along with my sincerest gratitude.

I was suffering from tennis elbow on my left arm for over three years. I had tried all conservative treatment including traditional Chinese medicine. All failed miserably and my golf game just went down the drain. After Dr. Kelly performed the TENEX procedure, guess what? My golf score dropped from over 90 to below 80 last year. I am 100% recovered on my left arm. No pain, no discomfort, nothing. Dr. Kelly is the best!

Dr. Kelly and his team replaced my shoulder three months ago and it has been a game changing event for me as the pain and restless sleep was immediately rectified. He accurately predicted my condition degrading more than three months ahead of the surgery date. The team was amazing to work with, showing deep passion for their job and my care.

I am greatly blessed and fortunate to have access to the skilled talent and professional services Dr. Kelly and his staff provided me. I am looking forward to getting back to all my activities I have previously enjoyed.
