A board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, Benjamin Clair, D.P.M., FACFAS, completed his undergraduate degrees in biology at Bethel University and in biomedical science at The Chicago Medical School / Finch University. He completed his medical degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Clair completed a residency in foot and ankle medicine and surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center and Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota city hospitals. He completed advanced training in foot and ankle trauma through the AO Foundation and also completed advanced training in foot and ankle arthroscopy through the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Clair is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is board-certified in foot surgery, rearfoot, ankle and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Clair specializes in disorders and injuries of the foot and ankle. His clinical interests include ankle instability; Achilles tendon disorders; foot and ankle trauma/fracture care; sports medicine injuries; foot and ankle deformities; hallux valgus (bunion) conditions; hallux rigidus (great toe joint arthritis); arthroscopy of the foot and ankle; toe contractures (hammer toe deformities); tendon disorders; foot and ankle arthritis; and cartilage repair. He lectures locally and nationally on foot and ankle injuries and pathology.
Prior to practicing in the Twin Cities, Dr. Clair had a distinguished practice in northern Minnesota. Dr. Clair serves as faculty for industry surgeon-training workshops. He is also an attending surgeon for Twin Cities-based foot and ankle surgery residency programs. He has published peer reviewed papers on foot and ankle conditions and is currently researching Achilles tendon disorders; ankle instability conditions; and foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. In addition to research and training, Dr. Clair is engaged with technique development, including less invasive surgery and innovation in foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Clair appreciates the opportunity to custom-tailor individual treatment plans for his patients. His goal is to ensure that every patient he encounters feels very well cared for and, moreover, cared about.
Dr. Clair and his wife, Jodi, have two daughters. He has volunteered his time in marathon medical tents, triathlon medical stations, and volunteers for the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes program. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Clair enjoys family time, golf, running, snowboarding, tennis, upland game bird hunting in native South Dakota, fly-fishing, and travel.
