Twin Cities Orthopedics’ physicians in Waconia, Minn. announced today the donation of medical equipment to Africa. The donation was made possible after Twin Cities Orthopedics purchased new equipment for a new clinic, now open in the Ridgeview Professional Building in Waconia. The donation represents Twin Cities Orthopedics commitment to giving back to the community and improving orthopedic care. “It feels great to know that while we are improving orthopedic healthcare right here in Minnesota, we are also able to improving orthopedic healthcare for people over 6,000 miles away,” said Janet Pokorny, director of clinic operations at Twin Cities Orthopedics. The donation was facilitated through a non-profit Christian organization called The Vine, which operates out of The Vine Church located in Northeast Minneapolis. The Vine also has satellite offices Texas, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya. The Vine is lead by Dr. Titus J. Jideofor and his wife Pastor Gayle A. Jideofor, who is also a Radiological Technician. She was working at the Waconia clinic as a temporary employee at the time of the donation. In a letter to Twin Cities Orthopedics, Pastor Gayle A. Jideofor explains that “In a country with a population exceeding 131 million people, there are very few x-ray machines and the existing ones function poorly, if at all.” The Vine is currently working with the Nigerian Government to open up a new imaging center. Items donated by Twin Cities Orthopedics include: an x-ray machine, an x-ray table, an x-ray tube, a generator, darkroom safe lights, a film bin and a processor. To help make a more complete clinic, Twin Cities Orthopedics also donated waiting room chairs, office desks, physician exam stools, dressing room curtains, view-boxes, small office wall hangers, medical journals and books. “We are happy to share with Nigeria the medical journals and library. All of these books will be a blessing to the medical school there,” said Jideofor. About Twin Cities Orthopedics About The Vine |
