If you’re providing primary care to an orthopedic patient, be sure to keep January 22, 2010 open on your calendar for Twin Cities Orthopedics’ (TCO) fifth annual Practical Orthopedics for Primary Care Providers Conference.

This continuing-education conference focuses on treatment of minor orthopedic needs, such as splinting, casting, and knee evaluations, and includes a series of breakout sessions all led by TCO orthopedic surgeons.

Providers likely to attend are primary care physicians, residents, urgent and emergency care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, trainers, and chiropractors. However the conference will benefit anyone who is treating the needs of an orthopedic patient.

The conference is part of TCO’s focus on the community and helps to ensure community physicians and other caregivers can address a minor orthopedic problem without referring the patient to an orthopedic specialist. The conference has been a success from its inception in 2005 and continues to grow. Last year, the conference attracted nearly 200 attendees.

The fifth annual Practical Orthopedics for Primary Care Providers Conference takes place all day on January 22, 2010, at the Minneapolis Convention Center (the same time as the Minneapolis Boat Show).
