Thomas Nelson, MD specializes in orthopedic hip and knee surgery and orthopedic oncology.   Special interests include joint replacement revisions, joint reconstruction (lower extremities), orthopedic infection, knee surgery, hip surgery, hip resurfacing and arthritis care.  He has specialized training in Two-Incision Minimally Invasive Total Hip Arthroplasty (Certified as Instructor and Surgeon Educator); is certified in Quad-Sparing Minimally Invasive Total Knee Replacements; operative treatment of cancers of the Musculoskeletal System; and is a Surgeon-Consultant for Zimmer and Wright Medical Inc.

Education

Dr. Nelson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School and also completed his orthopedic residency there.  He also completed an Orthopaedic Oncology
fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota.
